Another damp start to the day so a walkabout in York tried a cycle but had to turn weather bad. Below a guided tour?

11 June 2026 York

Had a wet walk into town this morning looking for interesting places and coffee.

The river has come up 12″ since I was last here but has dropped 6″ today at least the flood gates are not shut yet?

Heavy rain most of the day but managed to walk up Micklegate some good independent shops.

Yes I do have friends in high places.

Not much going on yesterday as weather a bit mixed but managed a cycle to Starbeck then Harrogate between showers.

One of my website viewers in the comments asked.

Do they still help out with eye tests at Barnard Castle?

The answer is they did me.

Had a walk into York on arrival and spotted a dog coming out of a shop that I had just put in one of my drawings must be on holiday.

Called in at the Spark it was closed last time I was here.

In the evening another walk into town again.

8 June 2026 Harrogate

Damp morning but when it brightened up a cycle into Harrogate for a look around noticed the 3 wheeler outside trotters cafe had gone.

In the afternoon another cycle down into Knaresborough. Love this car I have seen it before how cool.

Stairway to heaven lucky day for me no door.

Had a look around see if any of my witch friends are here.

Lovely view by the riverside at the church and laundry.

A small piece of information for you all over the last 5 weeks COSTA COFFEE have got my order incorrect 5 times???

7 June 2026 Harrogate

Up into Bae

Barnard Castle for a walkabout and coffee before leaving for Harrogate below is a picture of the bridge below the castle where the stones are.

Wow what a journey down to Harrogate road works traffic awesome sign on A1 says Junction 48-46 closed then the next sign says delays 30 mins junction 47 then next sign says 60 mph then the next sign says hold ups at 48-46 next sign says 40mph next sign says next sign says road closed 48-46 next sign says road works in 2 mile what a lovely day. Washing day the machines on site are Ugh must remember never to use again.

After tea a cycle into Harrogate no traffic about at 1730 FAB.

Had a chat to the wardens on site about pictures and showed them some of mine and Gemma showed me some books she had made  well done.

6 June 2026 Barnard Castle

Walk into Keswick before leaving for Barnard Castle WOW what a drive should be 1 hour but took 30 mins to travel 1 mile at one point.

Arrived and had a walk into town these lovely stones on the bridge on the way up to the castle some lovely sayings

Still bad weather so just catching up with friends.

With all the rain the lake has come up a lot.

Above the tunnel to the lake from town, below a friend has started making these lovely. XX

Wow some sunshine today so coffee in Keswick then an afternoon cycle along the old railway line to Threlkeld a lovely cycle.

1-3 June 2026 Keswick

Sorry folks not a lot going on bad internet on the site in Keswick so have decided to leave a day early. Picked my car up for some new tyres and an MOT (passed).

Had a lovely day in Workington walking down a few streets I have never been down and a lovely coffee n cake in a coffee shop recommended by my printers FAB. Called in to see my lovely POLAR EXPLORER friend looking good XX.

Next day took my friend down to Keswick for a walkabout  and coffee at another friends cafe lovely to catchup as you can see in the below picture weather not so good.

Next day catching up with lots of friends its really lovely to have a chat hope to see some more before I leave.

31 May 2026 Keswick

Walk into Hawes first thing for a coffee n cake at The Biker Cafe very busy then a drive up to Keswick (SLOW) a cycle event on across the hills to Ingleton and slow through Windermere and Ambleside.

Had a walk to the Keswick hospital to see a very special friend but he had been moved (must have been told I was coming) Ha Ha.

Walked back through hope park cricket match on then back to the campsite.

In the evening a walk through town to the lake and back through Fitz Park a new thing has appeared.

30 May 2026 Hawes

Coffee with friends before leaving for Hawes a lovely drive after leaving the A1 although a dangerous road.

Arrived in Hawes and met up with friends in The Creamery ” I know two sets of friends” I am very lucky to have so many ?

After tea a walk about in town.

Brown eggs or white eggs ? I’m sat on the fence with an answer!
