The below picture from Tynemouth will be a bit boring to regular followers as I love saying ” I have cycled to the moon and Back”

1

In the afternoon another cycle down through Seaton Sluice checking to see if this was still here

2

Also noticed today the remains of the old swing bridge for allowing tall masted yaught’s into the harbor.

3

Then on to Delaval Hall

4

Had to stop and look at this? below.

The remains of an obelisk are located near Seaton Delaval Hall, on The Avenue, east of road to New Hartley. The obelisk reputedly marks the spot where Admiral George Delaval suffered a fatal riding accident on the 22nd of June, 1723 The obelisk base is Grade II listed for the National Heritage List for England.

5

Continued on into New Hartley where nearby there was a bad mine disaster and a lovely memorial garden.

The Hartley Colliery disaster was a coal mining accident in Northumberland, England, that occurred on 16 January 1862 and resulted in the deaths of 204 men and children. The beam of the pit’s pumping engine broke and fell down the shaft, trapping the men below.
