While cycling yesterday I noticed a ship in Poole Harbour with Not Electric Yet! And thought how funny Electric ships? It was The St. Helena the ship that carries the vehicles for Extreme Electric.
This morning we cycled down to Wareham for a look been before by bus, the cycle was a bit hairy in places due to it been next to a very busy road. Had a coffee then back for a drive to Chichester stopping for shopping just off the M27 arrived about 1430 site not to busy. At first the site looks stunning but the smoke from wood stoves in the tents belonging to some of the super pitches was a bit to strong due to light wind but the site did move us on request. The toilet block is like out of a hotel with small individual showers and toilets. Did our laundry and settled down for the night.
Cycle into town and a walkies round the shopping streets finishing with coffee. After lunch a walk round the country lanes near the site stopped and had a good chat with a couple out litter picking.
15th Cycle round Upton Park and Holes bay to Poole then on to Sandbanks this route is very muddy. After travelling most of England and Europe this is not what I consider to be a good place to live. Maureen got another puncture so after replacing the tube I called in at a new cycle shop next to Costa an bought a new Kevlar tyre and a spare tube and fit the new tyre on returning to the van a good day out.
Below is the view from Sandbanks beach looking across to Bournemouth and Old Harry Rocks
Looks good this morning so a cycle up to Bournemouth Pier and into town for a walkabout back along the seafront with some wind and rain so stopped in Poole for a sandwich and coffee. Out for 4 Hours a good day.
Weather a bit iffy but got the bikes out and Joined Get You Lost tours for a 2 1/2 hour cycle round Poole. Again saw a lovely knitted display on a post box. In the afternoon had a good walk on the country lanes near us a lovely day with short bursts of sunshine 12 degrees.
A complicated journey down to Poole on Country roads but only a 2 Hour drive. Arrived lunch time and! Ugh wash van AGAIN it was really dirty. A walk after lunch to stretch the legs spotted some lovely knitting on top of a phone box. Cancelled our ferry to Spain today.
Drive down weather not too bad roads still very busy. Arrived early afternoon hooked up then a walk up Cheddar Gorge.
One of the good things about being about in these tourist places in winter are you can have the place to yourselves except for the climbers cleaning up the cliffs and cutting trees down,
Had a second walk after lunch and managed to get our washing done and all the bad road dirt of the van lovely and clean a good day “AGAIN”
Good start to the day managed a cycle into Cheltenham not to busy and a good cycle way, walkabout had a look at the Christmas market and spent a while chatting to a Deliveroo cyclist while having our take away coffee. Lovely sunny afternoon so a walk to Asda.
Below a picture of a take away coffee outside when we all return to the Planet of the Apes.
Walkies first thing to Kingsbury village through the water park its very easy to get lost here lots of footpaths but managed to escape the jaws of death by these 2 see below
There is a lovely little train runs through the park with a couple of stations at the station below I contemplated death by train but alas they were not running.
Drive down to Cheltenham very difficult due to high winds and heavy rain. On arrival a bit of shopping and some campsite booking for England.
Walk into Southport for a Starbuck Coffee got wet returning to campsite. Another long wet drive with lots of speed restrictions on M6 (40 mph) for about 20 miles Ugh! Again.
Got to campsite about 1400 lunch, shower then walkies along the canal towpath (FAB) had a good chat with a fisherman. Sun came out for both walks.
After 5 weeks away from camping we are now back on the road again and heading south a 3 hour journey down the M6 Ugh!. We have had a lovely afternoon walkabout in Southport and spotted a very large Ginger Bread Woman see image.
The Christmas lights and market are on and a large Lumiere display in the park a bit noisy though but finished at 2030. Managed to get some new clothes at M&S. Had a really good day and its good to be doing things and seeing new sights again.
