Still in the Keswick area enjoying running and walking on the fells and all the coffee breaks with friends. Had a trip down to Ambleside and Grasmere to watch a large relay fell race.

Campsite still OK although we had a dog barking over night at the rabbits as it is sleeping in the awning overnight and another couple left the dog in the camping car while they went off just a small problem with being in the dog friendly town of Keswick.
Lovely to be back in Keswick and running the fells again, although we have had some very wet days, in fact last weekend the adjacent campsite on the lake shore had to be evacuated due to the height of the lake rising several feet.
The past week or so we have been catching up with friends drinking innumerable cups of coffee and tea. Went into Costa Coffee early last week but it is not as good as earlier in the year. We asked for extra hot lattes but they were only just warm and very short measures so we have given it a miss since. Last night we enjoyed a lovely meal at the Pheasant Inn on Crosthwaite Road with our friend Carolyn but were very disappointed to note a substantial amount of snail trails on the carpet underneath our table – Ugh!! Van Serviced MOT and new front tyres.
Nice steady drive up through the Dales to Hawes. Booked in and after a bit of lunch walked up to Wensleydale Creamery. Bought some cheese and had coffee in the café. Had lots of walkabouts and today a good walk over to the Green Dragon. Below a picture showing how scaffolding is taking over the world. It is now surrounding a steam engine.
Had an interesting 4 days here in Richmond, the first day afternoon we cycled into town for a coffee. The next few days were running and walking. It takes about an hour to walk in on the old railway line and 45 minutes if you walk back through the woods by the fairys’ well and the Drummer boys stone. When you walk past the slanting wall at Easby Abby the rumour states that one day it will fall on two lovers…to Avoid this we had a big argument before the wall and made up after we had passed it.

We had a look round the 2 main churches and on the last day had a wonderful tour round The Old Georgian Theatre only 3 of us on the tour FAB.
Bridlington Caravan Club site – The perfect site designed how they should be with RULES park all the same way, 2 foot from the grass, ask the wardens for advice on washing your vehicle, toilet block 1 has only 4 sit down toilets but outside the toilet block it has 28 drain covers! Site has 149 pitches. The trouble with perfect is that it is usually soulless as is the case here. There is a constant machine noise 24 hours a day coming from a nearby facility. 2 Vehicles left the site at 0500 am very unusual this for any campsite. We always vote with our feet so we won’t be back to this site and it is very unusual for me to write this rubbish but Hay Ho…. No buses on a Sunday (Beware). Good cycle into Bridlington and up to Flamborough head although they tend to drive fast and overtake on double white lines.
Had two days with cycling running and a bus trip into Bridlington it is 57 years since I have seen the ship above.
Sat Nav trouble going to this site first time ever with this one. Got here at 1200 hooked up and off into Bridlington on the bikes. Coffee then back to a farm shop, steak pie – rhubarb pie and carrot cake. Cycle up tp Flamborough head light house.
Flamborough Head ( Only Joking) next picture Flamborough Head
For the last 2 days it has been very windy but lovely and sunny and warm. Too windy for cycling so lots of beach walking into Whitby and Sandsend. Managed the 199 steps to St. Mary’s Church which we found very interesting.
Long drive down, busy with roadworks. Managed to find a Co-op for a bit of shopping and to stretch our legs. Arrived just before 12,00 noon and was allocated a good pitch. After some lunch caught the bus into town for a walkabout and had coffee and cake before catching the bus back. A bit of a rest day for us.
Lovely day so cycled up to Blyth. Great route through the dunes, came across a great cycling sculpture.
On talking to a local he said he thinks it may be a memorial to 3 cyclists that were killed on the nearby road by a drunk driver, then on past the docks with enormous cable laying drums – wow! Stopped for a coffee at the Coastline Coffee Shop. Good coffee, great company (see below). Regrettably no worms on the menu.
Back to site for lunch then some more walking. This evening saw a large cable laying barge heading out to sea.
Picture above St. Mary’s lighthouse which we walked to last night when the tide went out.
This morning a run down to Seaton Sluice (Image above click for BIG and find the mermaid) where we came across some lovely wood sculptures (beach art) and had a chat the nephew of the artist – very interesting.
Went for a cycle down through Whitley Bay towards Tynemouth. Back for lunch then a walk back to Seaton Sluice along the cliffs.
