Still running and cycling our way around in Benicassim. Up to Oropesa with friends on our bikes for a look around and coffee.

Good walkabout in the scrub in the hills and the Benicassim 10k on today.

Had a great cycle down to Castellon with Linda and Ray 20 miles stopping for a walk about in town and a couple of coffee stops. This is after Maureen had been running (what a star).

Cycle around town and a bit of sunbathing today. Came accross a swing in a playground made just for Disabled(a first for me)

5 – 8 January 2018 Vilanova / Benicassim
Finished our last few days in Vilanova with a trip into Sitges to top up our shopping. Last 2 days at Vilanova bad weather with thunder and lightening and the van being covered in the usual red sand from the Sahara.
On the 6th January, 3 Kings Day, we shared a Roscón de Reyes cake with our friends, with Linda getting both the King toy from the cake and also the fava bean – lucky her. Description of what the cake means below:
On January 6th to celebrate Epiphany, Spaniards typically tuck into a Roscón de Reyes, a golden brioche ring decorated with candied fruit.
The cakes, which symbolize the crowns worn by the Three Kings (or Wise Men) on their visit to baby Jesus, traditionally contain a little figurine for children as well as a dry fava bean.
Whoever finds the toy is crowned king or queen of the celebration, while the one who finds the bean has to buy the Roscón next year.

Travelled down to Benicassim on Monday 8th. Up early, still quite cold. Site very busy so not many pitches to choose from so pleased we got here early. Had a short walkabout and tea with our friends.

Been into Sitges for a walk-about and shopping, also Barcelona by train this time. Various trips in and out of Vilanova.

Our friends from Harrogate arrived 29th so had a meal in the campsite restaurant that evening. Managed to get all our campsites booked for our onward trip.
Below is my on pitch Decorations made from Acacia Tree seed pods that blew off in some strong wind a couple of days ago.

Caught the train to Sitges for a look around and coffee. Nothing seems to have changed.
22 Dec. 2017 Vilanova Park Barcelona

Maureen ran this morning Darian cycled. Caught the bus to Barcelona for our first look around not as impressive as last year and everywhere is so quite they have been saying the trouble over the elections has caused a loss of tourists.

For those who follow the blog have seen most of the pictures of Barcelona sights so we have been on the lookout for some different ones.
23 Dec. 2017 Vilanova Park Barcelona

Cycling this morning to Sitges via the Camino’s then on to the main road a new route for us and very enjoyable. Coffee in Sitges then cycle back for lunch. Caught the bus to Vilanova I’ la Geltru for shopping for over Christmas then back for tea.
19 December 2017 – Vilanova Park, Vilanova
Good journey down from Capmany with a stop off at Figueres to visit the Dali Museum. Unfortunately we found it impossible to find a parking space so just moved on to Vilanova. Arrived at site and amazed at the amount of empty pitches. There seems to be a lack of Danish people on site. One of the good things is they have built a new launderette which will help greatly this year as hand washing is starting to become difficult for us. Due to the lack of pictures with just arriving below is the new laundry.
Caught the local bus into Vilanova I’la Geltru in the afternoon and in the evening treat ourselves to a lovely meal at the on site restaurant.
WOW snow today!
18 December 2017 – Capmany, Spain
What a surprise to wake up to quite a lot of snow had fallen overnight in Tournon sur Rhone. Quite scary heading onto the motorway, quite a build-up of traffic at one point following two snow ploughs. Roads cleared once we were south of Montelimar.

Long drive to a campsite we have not used before about 10 kms over the border into Spain. Campsite facilities surprisingly good. Short walk into town before it rained and got dark.
