Up early trip into Liverpool today a 50 mins. journey by bus. On arrival caught the tourist bus to look at the sights. The first place being the New Cathedral, we then walked to the Old Cathedral.
Back on the bus for a trip to the docks and WOW rain not seen for weeks but typical us being on an open topped bus
Left Shrewsbury and within 5 minutes in a traffic jam. 3 miles took us 30 minutes. Arrived at site and heard from one of the wardens they had just had a gypsy problem but no worries as it had been sorted. We took a deep breath and boarded a bus for town (it broke down).
Had a good walk around the town once we got there. Got back to the site and decided to do some laundry, came to using the dryer and someone had beaten us to it.? There is only one washing machine. On chatting to the lady she said they got back to the van and the dog had been sick on the duvet so she washed off the sick and threw it in the dryer!!!! WTF. But we cleaned the dryer, all OK (What a day so unusual).
Took the Park and Ride into Shrewsbury, bus extremely busy and we had to pay a small amount even though we have a pass. Interesting to find that Charles Darwin was born in Shrewsbury. Went to see the Alkmund’s Church first, then to the Abbey, looked around a shopping centre then coffee and sandwich for lunch. More walk about and went to see The Dingle garden. Beautiful flowers, click on the image below for larger picture.
Good journey arrived lunchtime so into town and a visit to the cinema to See Mama mia (not bad).

Nice slow ride up keeping off the motorway. Arrived lunchtime and cycled into town as there are no buses on a Sunday !
Up early, laundry first thing, then off to cycle the Strawberry Line through Axbridge to Winscombe and yet another tunnel. This one had no lighting. Cycled up the Gorge stopping for a coffee at Costa watching the climbers on the rocks across the road.
Up early, moving day Bath to Cheddar Gorge. As we don’t have to leave the site until 12.00 noon got the bikes out and cycled the Two Tunnels Greenway (thanks Linda and Ray for the info about this).
No light at the end of the tunnel here, but very cold!
Arrived at campsite Cheddar gorge at 12.55. Lunch then a walk up the Gorge.
Walked into bath alongside the canal 45 mins. Went to the Odeon cinema to See Mission Impossible “Fallout”. Excellent film well worth seeing. We are amazed how it makes so much money when there were only 11 of us in the cinema. Evening walk up to the lock gates. Got chatting to some canal holiday makers.
Nice steady drive to Bath. After lunch bus into town just for an initial look around. Campsite a bit like Trip Advisor warned us but we have been to worse and no how to manage on these occasions.
Washing Up Area
Washing up area very basic with only one sink and no hot water but we can see it from our van and can avoid the queues. The Elsan disposal point is situated so as yo avoid a build up of fumes as you can see from the photo.
In the evening we walked up towards to locks to watch the canal boats.

There is an Owl thing going on in the town they look good.
Into town using the Park and Ride bus which is a 5 minutes walk from the campsite.
Had a look around the old Roman Baths. We missed this the last time we were here 7 years ago as we arrived in the evening and just looked at the Christmas Market.
Roman Baths
An interesting town and a lot bigger than we thought.
Maureen and Darian in Bath
This is the type of motorhome you need for wild camping but it would stand out at the moment as the grass on it is too green.
Went into town for another walkabout and a bit of shopping. In the afternoon cycled down the side of the River Avon into town to call at the bank. After tea went for another walk around the Old Sarum.
Saturday caught bus again into town for a bit of sight seeing and some more shopping as we move tomorrow. No walking today as rain and high winds have descended upon us.
There has been a large presence of private security people in the town and area’s still closed off including the restaurant where the initial poisoning took place we spoke to a local and they said the town was still going about their business with no worries.
Cycled down to Poole for a coffee as we only have a short drive today and are not leaving the site until 11.30. Nice steady drive from Poole on fairly quiet roads. Booked in then had lunch and then took the bus into town. Visited Salisbury in 2011 but still went to have another look at the cathedral. After tea went for a short walk to look at the Old Sarum the site of the original cathedral and ruins of the castle. Above is the view of the Old Sarum with Salisbury Cathedral to the right of the third tree. You can click the image above for a larger picture.
Maureen cycle to Stonhenge
Thursday out with the bikes and we decided to cycle route 45 to Stonehenge. We were out about 2.5 hours which included lunch at the Bridge Inn (named after us).
Very hot day, difficult to cycle so just resting in the shade (32C).
