29 December 2025 SPAIN Barcelona
Caught an earlier bus this morning down what I thought was a street I had not been down before but turns out I have many years ago remembered this chimney.
A Modernista factory
Created in 1896, this factory operated during the golden years of the Catalan textile industry, specialising in the production of cotton and wool. There were mechanical looms, looms for corduroy, machines for starching, machines for spinning and even areas for dyes and woven fabrics. It was a Modernista-style building, which had an exposed-brick outer wall with geometric decorations.
The surviving chimney
This chimney, standing in the square which, since 1998, has been called Can Galta Cremat (the factory’s nickname) is the only element that has been preserved.
In the afternoon a cycle again to Roquetes via the forest trails in Els Colls. Lots of grafitti about today.
Out for a couple of hours then realized why my day started early got back to the site and it started to rain.

Absolutely lovely photos, especially all the graffiti, so colourful and I love the masked dancers. 😎😎
